Tennis was the winner on the day. The weather held for the
first round of the doubles. Unfortunately Ray and Ashton were matched against
the 2nd seeds which resulted in a quick exit.
3rd and bronze medal for our girls rugby with Khi
and Georgia being named in the tournament team capped a fantastic rugby day at
Waipuna Park. The drizzly weather did not deter our team who battled injuries
to beat Tauranga Intermediate 33 – 0 in
a complete display of attacking flair combined with defensive aggression in a
playoff for 3rd and 4th. Earlier, we lost an unlucky game
against Finlayson Park 17 – 15 and then another loss to the eventual winners
Royal Oak Intermediate. Our team
displayed real character to come back and win the playoff game in style.
Overall, the tournament has been an outstanding success for
us. Our swimmers, notably Bronson who was named male swimmer of the meet for
Division Two, did exceptionally well. We would like to acknowledge Adele Lloyd
for her expertise in managing the swimmers. The rugby team was well coached by
Meyer Goosen and they finished fantastically well. The support for the team
from parents was great. Thanks to Paul, Danial, Jason and Angela for the extra
help. The tennis players enjoyed the competition against higher ranked
opponents and put up a fine showing.
We are travelling tomorrow and are looking forward to the
comforts of home. We expect to be at school between 3 and 4pm.
