The first day of competition for tennis and swimming. Perfect conditions at the Mt Maunganui Tennis Club greeted Ray and Ashton. Ashton's first round opponent proved too strong with a more aggressive all round game. Ashton made him work for his win. Ray was next up and he played a controlled match winning comfortably much to the distress of his opponent. The rugby team managed to make themselves known at the tennis venue by losing a rugby ball in the trees.
Ray's next match was a high quality affair with a narrow loss to a higher ranked opponent. This was a great match to watch.
The rugby team supported the tennis, ran up Mt Maunganui and played beach rugby afterwards. Lunch was followed by a trip to watch some swimming.
Dinner was a magnificent spread with Mr Henderson boiling spuds, the girls bbqing sausages and Mr Goosen preparing the salad!!
At the time of publication we believe we have won two silvers (Danika and Bronson) and Bronson has also set a NZ record for the 100IM. Check out the results listed below.
